AOD Electrical is currently delivering electrical inspection and testing services as part of a wider team contracted to complete EICRs across the University of the West of England’s (UWE) multi-building estate. This includes a wide range of facilities — academic buildings, administrative spaces, accommodation blocks, and engineering plants.

Scope of Work

• Periodic inspection and testing of fixed wiring systems
• Testing and verification of distribution boards and final circuits
• Coding and documentation of observations in line with BS 7671
• On-site production of electrical layout drawings where none exist
• Marking up and proving circuits across large and complex installations

Process Improvements
Alongside core testing responsibilities, AOD Electrical has contributed to streamlining key processes to support the wider team, including:

• Designing custom documentation and spreadsheets to improve the accuracy, traceability, and organisation of test results and coded observations
• Introducing efficient supplementary checks (e.g., mirror-based breaker inspection) to ensure thorough but non-invasive assessments
• Developing pre-testing survey forms to capture critical site information (e.g., distribution board locations, access constraints, asbestos awareness) — helping testing teams plan and deliver with minimal disruption
